Gas flow meter based on the fluidic oscillation principle, with no moving parts and minimal pressure loss. The latest version is suitable for both dry and wet gases and allows natural condensate drainage. The instrument provides a pulse output and a digital display with flow rate and totaliser, and is available in an ATEX/IECEx version.
An orifice in the pipe diverts a constant proportion of the gas into a bypass containing the oscillating cell. There the flow meets a deflector and, owing to the alternating pressures generated in the connecting channel, continually changes direction: the gas column oscillates at a frequency proportional to the velocity and hence to the volumetric flow, which is picked up by a sensor.
