Viscosity-independent flow meter and switch for viscous liquids, up to 12 bar

Flow meter/switch for viscous liquids that compensates for viscosity even at very low flows, from 0.1…0.45 to 5…80 l/min; brass or stainless steel, 12 bar, 100 °C.

Patented instrument for measuring and monitoring the flow of viscous liquids such as oils. The spring-loaded float slides in a cylindrical tube with an integral orifice: this design fully compensates for viscosity and largely for specific gravity, even at very low flow rates. The body is brass or stainless steel, with female G or NPT threaded connections.

Features

  • Ranges from 0.1…0.45 l/min up to 5…80 l/min
  • G ¼…G 1 female or ¼…1" NPT female connections
  • Maximum pressure 12 bar, maximum temperature 100 °C
  • Accuracy ±4 % of full scale
  • Options: reed switch, pointer indicator, analogue output
  • Contact in a height-adjustable plastic housing

Operating principle

The float contains permanent magnets that actuate bistable, volt-free reed switches mounted outside the flow path, giving hermetic separation between the medium and the electrical parts. The contact is protected by a height-adjustable plastic housing against mechanical damage and aggressive atmospheres.
