Capacitive sensors detect any material with a sufficient dielectric constant, metallic or not: liquids, granules, powders, plastics, wood, glass. In hazardous areas they are used for minimum and maximum level control in tanks, hoppers and silos and for presence detection on process lines, even through the non-metallic wall of the container.
